Measuring the surface area

of the Mobius Strip Mall,

customers and clients,

and guests still getting

into and out of different cars,

entering and exiting

a parade of headshops,

and 24 hour boutiques,

and discount tattoo parlors,

I try to hold steady

the measuring tape,

but today’s crowd

is shuffling,

lifting their feet

less than usual,

so it might be easier

to figure out the circumference

of the planet

than it would

my place of employment.
